عنوان سخنرانی: The Internet of Things – coming to a city near you: Are you ready

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become the focus of a great deal of research and development around the world in recent years. Universities, research centers and high-tech companies are channelling tremendous amounts of funding to producing new findings and tools to advance this new area. Significant opportunities in research and development are emerging from this area of technology. CISCO is predicting 16.2 Trillion Dollars to be generated from IoT by 2022. IoT refers to objects or "things",embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity, communicating with each other over the internet. Commentators are saying that the IoT is going to make everything in our lives from fridges and cars to classrooms, homes and cities intelligent and connected. It promises to change the way we live, study and do business. This keynote address will present various aspects of IoT and the technologies, platforms and methods involved and discuss applications of IoT with a focus on smart cities and agriculture. A new project involving an international consortium of universities, research centers and companies involved in the development of smart cities technologies will be presented. This work involves the development of novel tools and technologies in cloud governance, big data, data analysis and forecasting, sentiment analysis,3D visualization, security and data resilience and integration of these technologies into a platform that can support decisions in smart cities. IoT education and development of human capital to address future needs will be discussed.

عنوان سخنرانی: IPv6-Based Vibrant & Innovative IoT

The public IPv4 address space managed by IANA (http://www.iana.org) has been completely depleted by Feb 1st,2011. This creates by itself an critical challenge when adding new things and enabling new services on the Internet. Without publicly routable IP addressing, the Internet of Things and anything that’s part of Internet of Everything would be greatly reduced in its capabilities and limit its potential success. Most discussions about IoT have been based on the illusionary assumption that the IP address space is an unlimited resource or it’s even taken for granted that IP is like oxygen produced for free by nature

The introduction of IPv6 provide enhanced features that were not tightly designed or scalable in IPv4 like IP mobility,ad hoc services; etc catering for the extreme scenario where IP becomes a commodity service enabling lowest cost networking deployment of large scale sensor networks,RFID,IP in the car,to any imaginable scenario where networking adds value to commodity

IPv6 deployment is now in full swing with some countries achieving over 50% penetration such as Belgium or the US with some 90 M users using IPv6 without even the users knowing it. Iran has been among the pioneers in deploying IPv6. Recently,Apple has required its apps developers to use IPv6 only for their apps staring June 1,2016 which a great shot in the arm of IPv6

There are many inflections points happening this decade to influence the design of first tangible IoT,5G and Web of Things. It will be a combination of IoT,SDN-NFV,Cloud Computing,Edge Computing,Big IoT Data and 5G to sift through to realising the paradigm shift from current research-based work to advanced IoT,5G and Smart Cities

This talk will be devoted to analyze the transformative societal impact of IPv6 on the potential mix of IPv6-based IoT,SDN-NFV,Cloud Computing,Big Data and 5G and its advanced features, highlighting the challenges and solutions moving forward

عنوان سخنرانی: Internet of Things for Dementia Care

Abstract: Digital data and the connected worlds of physical objects, people and devices are rapidly changing the way we work and interact with our surrounding environments. New technologies have a profound impact on different domains, such as healthcare, environmental monitoring, urban systems and control and management applications, among others. However, these large volumes of heterogeneous data require new methods of communication, aggregation, processing and mining in order to extract efficient and actionable information from the raw data. This talk will focus on Internet of Things technologies and will discuss the opportunities and challenges involved in using large-scale data analytics in healthcare applications and services.
The talk will also discuss the NHS funded Internet of Things project for dementia care, called TIHM (http://www.sabp.nhs.uk/tihm). It is estimated that there will be one million people with dementia in the UK by 2025. Beyond those directly affected, dementia also has a much wider impact on carers, families and health and care services, with social isolation being a key confounding factor. The TIHM project focuses on building the technical and physical infrastructure for an Internet of Things framework to support dementia care and remote monitoring. TIHM uses distributed and secure technologies to capture, analyse and manage the data in order to provide real-time and actionable information to different support groups in dementia care – i.e. clinical, social care, and patients (whenever and wherever appropriate).

Biography: Shirin Enshaeifar is a research fellow in healthcare informatics, and the deputy technical lead of Technology Integrated Health Management (TIHM) project in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Surrey,Guildford,U.K
Shirin completed her Ph.D. degree in biomedical signal processing and her M.Sc. studies in medical imaging at the University of Surrey,Surrey,U.K.,in 2016 and 2013,respectively. She received the B.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Isfahan,Isfahan,Iran,in 2010
She has research expertise in biomedical signal processing, machine learning and data analysis with applications in brain-computer interface, personalised technology enabled health/care services, and the internet of things (IoT)

عنوان سخنرانی: Advance in Electronics to Enable Internet-of-thing: A Journey from Analog Design to Digital design

The Internet of Things (IoT) is emerging as the third wave in the development of the Internet. The 1990s' fixed Internet wave connected 1 billion users while the 2000s' mobile wave connected another 2 billion. The IoT has the potential to connect 20X as many (50 billion) "things" to the Internet by 2020. The IoT is a network between things using wireless communication technology to connect objects, locations, and animals. It allows direct transmission and seamless sharing of data. Despite of all IoT advantages,it has not been really achieved yet because of several reasons such as power consumption and cost of IoT system-on-chip (SoC). Each of the things needs at least one SoC for the wireless communications. A simple IoT device includes lots of different blocks but the two most important ones are radio frequency (RF) transceiver and CPU. The CPU power consumption has reduced significantly thanks to a digital scaling of advanced CMOS technology, which makes the IoT SoC allocating a most of the power consumption to the RF transceiver. During the speech,we mostly discuss the design efforts and trade-offs that hardware and electronic engineers will face to deliver ultra-low power (ULP) RF transceivers to enable the IoT devices for market.

He received the B.S.E.E. degree from Isfahan University of Technology,Isfahan,Iran,in 2007 and the M.S. degree (with honors) from University of Tehran,Tehran,Iran,in 2009,both in electrical engineering. In 2015,he received the Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology,The Netherlands. He is now project leader and Co‐founder of Qualinx B.V. since February 2015. He holds 3 US patents and patent applications. His research interests includes RFCMOS integrated circuit design for wireless communications, high performance, low power frequency synthesizer, and transmitter for Internet-of-Things (IoT).
